SPRING-SUMMER 22

Spring-Summer 22

Unlike many European languages, the third-person pronoun in Turkish ‘O’ doesn’t have any gender connotation. Similarly, historical Turkish garments for both male and female share the same shapes and cuts. The subtle differences are only to be found in patterns and proportions. Inspired by his country’s tradition of making clothes, Utku Serkan Zengin proposes an autonomous silhouette that is liberated from gender specific tailoring. With his debut menswear collection Spring Summer 2022 he combines western close-fitting tailoring with the fluidity of two-dimensional and rectangular pattern cutting that he brings along from eastern tradition.
